Kushal Kumar
Kushal Kumar, son of the late Shri Naudha Ram, is a resident of Gram Panchayat Bardam Tehsil, Jaisinghpur District, Kangra. He is married and has three children: two boys and one girl. He first came to us in 2008 to obtain medicine. At that time, he was serving in the Indian Army. When home on leave, he began drinking excessively and struggled to quit. Another patient recommended he visit CORD.
Upon arriving at CORD for his medication, Kushal brought his liver function test report. I conducted extensive counseling with him, during which he completed a form to identify the reasons behind his alcohol consumption. His wife and mother accompanied him when he collected his medicine, leading to separate counseling sessions with them. Kushal Kumar mentioned that his wife did not cooperate with him, prompting his mother to intervene and send his wife along with him. Kushal took two tablets of medicine from CORD, which helped him manage his diet, drinking habits, and medication regimen. He noticed improvements after consuming just 4–5 tablets. He kept in touch with CORD by calling from his job or visiting during his leave.
Kushal has now completely stopped drinking alcohol. Despite having access to liquor through the Army, he refrains from consuming any alcohol at home. He retired from the Army in 2017 and now leads a very happy life. He has referred 9–10 people to receive the same medication. Kushal Kumar continues to visit CORD and maintains contact with the CORD team by phone.
