Nisha Devi

This is the story of Mrs. Nisha Devi, wife of Surjit Kaur, a resident of village Bhagbana Panchayat Nagini block, Nurpur. Mrs. Nisha Devi joined the Chinmaya Panchpiri SHG, which was built by CORD in her village in 2018. Her husband worked as a taxi driver. In 2019, her husband met with an accident while driving and in that accident, the husband’s leg and hand got hurt. Due to this, he lost his job. Mrs. Nisha Devi has 2 children, a girl is pursuing BLLB and a boy is studying in +2. The burden of the entire family fell on Nisha Devi due to her husband’s accident. In these difficult times, this SHG has emerged as a ray of hope for Nisha Devi, from whom she has taken financial help in the form of loans to meet her basic needs. Nisha Devi took 20,000/- from Chinmaya Panchpiri Self Help Group and bought a cow. She started earning around Rs 10,000 every month by selling cow’s milk, from which she started running the household expenses. Then she bought another cow from her SHG with a loan of Rs.30,000/- and is now earning Rs.25000/- per month by selling cow’s milk.

Now she is taking care of her entire family, She again took a loan of Rs.40, 000/- in the year 2021 and is getting her daughter to study law from this loan. Chinmaya Panchpiri Self Help Group has proved to be a boon for Smt. Nisha Devi to run her employment. Now Mrs. Nisha Devi is planning to get another cow so that the milk business can be increased further.
