Success Story: Digital Literacy – Smt. Anita Devi

Smt. Anita Devi is an enthusiastic entrepreneur from Jheol Panchayat in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. She became a part of our program through her Mahila Mandal, established by CORD, in 1994. Over time, she not only became the president of the Mahila Mandal but also joined one of the Self-Help Groups within it.

With constant motivation and training from the CORD team, Smt. Anita Devi ventured into vegetable cultivation to supplement her income. She began selling surplus vegetables in nearby markets, aspiring to reach a larger consumer base for better returns.

In 2021, Smt. Anita Devi expanded her entrepreneurial endeavors by starting a flower nursery alongside her vegetable cultivation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she learned to use WhatsApp as a marketing tool, a skill encouraged by CORD to help her reach consumers online. This initiative garnered an encouraging response from consumers and contributed to the growth of her business.

In September 2023, she attended an e-commerce training program conducted by CORD, further enhancing her digital skills. She began using Instagram for marketing purposes, successfully reaching new customers in nearby towns. Today, she receives significant supply orders through various online marketing channels.

Anita Devi has come a long way, transforming from a simple village woman into an inspiring entrepreneur for other women in the area.
