Maan Singh

Maan Singh, a 50-year-old resident of Brikuli, Pathankot, Punjab, faced a life-altering challenge four years ago. A fall from a tree while plucking gooseberries left him with a cervical injury and full-body paralysis. As the sole breadwinner of a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family, this tragedy significantly impacted his household. His elder son, forced to drop out of school, took on the role of the family’s main provider, while his younger son continued his education in the 12th standard.

In response to their plight, CORD intervened, offering support and community. They integrated Maan’s wife into the Mahila Mandal and Self-Help Group, empowering her to manage both caregiving and household responsibilities. Additionally, CORD provided financial assistance for Maan’s medical needs, alleviating some of the family’s burdens. His wife expresses deep gratitude to CORD for their compassionate support during this challenging time.
